The prizes were awarded by Mayor Pat
Griffin: (FRONT COVER) Pat Griffin, the
Mayor of Moorabool Shire, presenting the
prizes at the Ballan Art Show.
The overall winner was "Macrocarpa":
(FRONT COVER) This is number 205, the
overall winner of the Ballan Art Show -
"Macrocarpa", a linocut, by Vida Pearson.
$500 award donated by Gordon Edgerton

Of great interest in the Moorabool Shire
and Ballan is the Local Artist Award:
This is number 81, The Local Artist Award.
"Hodge's Hayshed Ballan" a watercolour
by Kathy Diamond. $400 Award donated
by Angela, Wayne & Ben Hall of IGA
Supermarket of Ballan, Pama Motors of
Ballan and Zirela of Ballan.
As well as paintings, the ceramic and
pottery section featured some interesting
work from younger members of the Ballan
community: (FRONT COVER) "Critter" is
by 12 yr old Thomas Paarhammer, and
"Mushroom" is by Emily Slocum.
The Art Show featured many round things.
Firstly, the Art Show was held in the Moorabool
Shire Council Offices, a round building:

spacing. An idyllic venue for an art show.
Secondly, art entrant number 85 'Back
of Ballan' by Denise Doyle, showed the
round dome guesthouse, built and owned
by my twin brother, Tony Clarke (FRONT
COVER).
The Ballan Dome Roundhouse is operating
as a B&B and boutique conference centre.
Denise Doyle is from a Melbourne Artists
Group which specifically visited Ballan
in early 2011 to do landscape paintings
of the Dome. On their visit they were
impressed with the level of artworks inside
the Dome. These artists followed Melbourne
architects and a Ballarat car club visiting the
dome, making the dome a 'themed' tourist
drawcard for Ballan.
